Being Mrs. Mom Radio BTR Feature

February 6, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

If you have been reading my blog for a while, then you know that I started doing a radio show on Blog Talk Radio last year.

I’ve done a few shows and I must say that I really enjoy it.

Yesterday, I went to one of the main pages where moms and family shows are listed  and to my surprise, my show was featured.

BTR Feature1I want to say that I am very honored to be listed on that page.  I’m sure that it will drive more traffic to my show.  I’m excited about that because I really desire to reach women from different spheres with encouraging words.

I want to help women be their best and be who God created them to be.

I just wanted to share that because I’m honored and excited. 🙂

I hope you’ll tune in sometime.

A Moment In Time

February 3, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

As I sit here this morning listening to the sound if the rain outside, breastfeeding my baby, I am filled with a peace and joy that is hard to explain.

Have you ever had a moment like that? A moment where things are still and quiet, where you are able to reflect on the things inside you and around you. A moment where you can hear The Lord tell you that He loves you?

As a mom, these moments don’t happen all of the time. I have to create moments like this. What do I mean?

Well, it’s 6:45am. That’s right! I’m up before my kids…and I’m doing nothing.

We had our prayer call this morning and I was encouraged to walk in love. Now I am preparing myself mentally for my day.

As mothers we are needed dearly by our children. Yet we can’t be what they need us to be, if we aren’t ok. We have to find out what it takes for us to be well, at peace within ourselves and to have joy.

That may mean having quiet time during the day, a bit just for mom, but for the kids too. I am finding that this idea of quiet time is new for many moms. Outside of nap time, there is no quiet, personal, alone time for both the children and the mom. Yet, this is how I have learned to stay healthy.

Quiet time is good for both mom or dad and the children.

We have to decide when and how to do it.

This is how I am doing it today. Sitting, listening to the rain…experiencing the peace if God within me.

I hope that you find time to have a quiet moment today.

Dear Laundry

January 27, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Dear Laundry,

If I were your friend, I would only let you come over once a week

I’d pray for you because you don’t know how to stop

We’d have to have a talk because whenever you come around, I am left with one sock. (washing & drying)

Laundry, I appreciate your friendship and I know that you do a lot that I don’t feel like doing. (washing & drying)

Yet, at times I’m frustrated with the folding and put away that I’m left with.

It seems that we have a love hate relationship and I am blessed by it…

I think you make me better

Sincerely,

Being Mrs Mom

Happy

January 25, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

I am very happy right now.

I just wanted to take a moment to say that I really love spending time with my husband and family.

My kids say the funniest things.

We laugh.

Have our ups and downs.

It was freezing outside, but we had a great night.

I honestly couldn’t ask for anything else as a mom and wife.

I am honored to be so blessed with my husband and children.

Yes, I am thankful and happy.

What are you thankful and happy about?

Encouraged by the Butler

Tonight I watched “The Butler” with my husband. It was such a great movie. I found it very encouraging and refreshing.

I liked the way that the writers included many historical details.

This movie brought tears to my eyes. I liked the way that the director allowed the details of America’s history to be portrayed in a tasteful manner, but didn’t ignore the realities of the times that the characters were living in.

I’d watch this movie again.

Using Wisdom When Frustrated

January 21, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Just because I have a blog doesn’t mean that it’s ok for me to vent about my frustrations when I am upset. It doesn’t mean that I have to pretend that I’m ok, but I need to be wise. I need to act in a manner that would represent me. A way that I would be proud to stand before God and claim.

Why am I saying this?

Well, if you can’t already tell, I’m frustrated…and as much as I would love to explain why, I’m not going to. What I am going to discuss is how I’m going to handle my frustration.

Well, first of all. I’m taking the time to be alone. I’m sitting in the bathroom with the shower water running. Yes, I’ll be getting I. The shower soon, but I needed to do this first. I’m going to take a moment to myself.

Next I’m going to pray…selah…
Yup, I just stopped and prayed.

I’m doing my best not to complain about the situation because I read a a scripture this morning that discouraged arguing and complaining. It was Philippians 2:14, 15

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

As I meditate on this scripture, I’m going to take a shower. Maybe that will help me cool down a bit. I’m going to take care of myself. That always helps a bit when things are frustrating.

While in the shower, I prayed again. I quieted my soul and mind. I felt like God was saying that I didn’t need to worry because he would take care of the situation.

After getting out, I told myself that I had given the situation to God and was not going to go back and get it. I am now ok. I’m not worried, frustrated, or angry.

The key was trusting God. There are times when this is harder than others, but it’s apart of my foundation.

This is how I do it. I hope it helps someone.
