What About The TODO List?

May 29, 2015 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Refreshing Friday

If you are anything like me, when Friday comes around, you are thinking back on all of the things that you accomplished during the week.

You may even be thinking of the things that you didn’t get done.

That’s me…

I’m normally looking at my to-do list.

I start listing the millions of things that I could do today because it’s the end of the week and I had a goal in mind.

Then, I am hit with something…it happens each and every time.

YOU CAN’T DO EVERYTHING, ALL AT ONCE, ALL OF THE TIME!

Suddenly, I am hit with this reality and I’m stuck.

“What?! I had so much to get done.  I can do some of it…”

The truth is that I can’t and neither can you…

“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”  Proverbs 16:9

No matter how much we plan on doing, there are just some things that God never intended for us to do.

I don’t know about you, but I find that refreshing.

I can make as many plans as I want, but God has orchestrated my life.  He has already set aside those things that I will accomplish.  Not only has He set those things aside, but He is there with me in that moment to help me accomplish them.  All of the things that I’ve been planning are preparation for, in my mind… It is my participation in the process, but my extreme standard or all work and no play, is not THE standard.

So the to-do list can continue to grow, but I am happy that God has set aside the things that He wants me to accomplish and I’m sure that I will get those things done in the near future…

Until then I will just breathe…

Remember To Breathe

October 15, 2014 By Mrs. Mom 2 Comments

BreatheHave you ever had a moment when you found yourself gasping for air?

No, I don’t mean literally, but you can feel it.  It seems like everything around you is going so fast that you just can’t seem to catch your breath.

I know that you know what I’m talking about.

It’s that time in your life when you feel like you are spinning around in circles, getting dizzy, and are about to pass out because you aren’t getting enough oxygen to your brain.

Those are the times when it is imperative for us to take time away.  It might be a vacation.  It could be a day.  It could be as simple as a few minutes out of the time that you spend being super busy.  Where ever you make the time to do it, that time becomes your point of rejuvenation.

How do I know?  Well, it’s simple.  I’ve been there.

I’ve been at a point before where I was trying to be everything to everybody.  I thought that being a good woman, friend, and Christian meant that I had to say “yes!” and do it all…all the time.

That’s when, thankfully, God’s Holy Spirit stepped in and began to tell me something that I will never forget.

BREATHE…Don’t forget to breath

Hearing those words caused me to feel like someone cared about all that I had been experiencing and that I was important too.  I began to realize that I didn’t have to pour out everything in order to be the woman that I believed that God had created me to be.  It was OK to slow down or stop at a point when I knew that it was too much. I became more encouraged as I felt the Holy Spirit unction me to say “No, I’m sorry.  I understand, but the answer is no.”

Today my life is a bit more balanced.  I am no longer the same woman that I once was.  I know, now, how to say no.

So, why am I writing this?

I’m writing this because I believe that it is important to share my story so that I can help someone else.

If you are reading this and life seems to be moving at the speed of lighting, take a moment and breathe.

Find time throughout your day, week, month, and year to simply look up at the clouds or the sky…the trees, the stars…watch the kids play and as you do, remember to breathe.

Thank God for all you have and all He is in your life. Put one foot in front of the other and continue to move forward.

I hope you found comfort and encouragement in this.

Until next time…God bless you

Just Breathe

March 25, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Checklist We all have things to do.

We have our long lists and our requirements.

We have the expectations of ourselves and of others.

We have the things we want to do for ourselves and the things that others want us todo for them.

We have the nonstop coming and going, the long waiting to get nowhere fast.

Heart

In the midst of all of this our minds and hearts become overwhelmed with the cares of this life.

When will it ever stop?

How are we able to sleep at night?

We can’t…at least not restfully…

The thoughts keep racing. We worry and fret about things that haven’t even happened yet.  We aren’t even sure if they ever will.

So what should we do?

How do we stop ourselves from feeling overwhelmed and tired emotionally?

We have to STOP and take a deep breath.  It will take some focus to do nothing else in that moment, but it is imperative to find a way to just breathe.

Just Breathe

This is what I’m telling myself today.

I have a lot on my plate and to make sure that I don’t get overwhelmed, I have to remove somethings.

Before I do that I am going to take some time to rest and breathe.

I hope that you find encouragement in this as well and that you are able to do the same.

Remember…our hearts can only take so much…

Have fun in life, love what you do, run the race, kill the giants, but don’t forget to breathe…
