Who is Building Your House?

October 24, 2017 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

When you look around at the world that we live in, we see that there are a lot of things that you and I could be busy doing.  We want our homes, relationships, and careers to be full and satisfying, but there is something that I want to ask you.  Who is building your house?

Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who builds it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Before you and I ever set foot on this earth, God had a plan for our lives.  He determined the year that we would be born and the year that our children would be born.  He decided who we would marry and the people we would be in relationship with.  He determined what our hands would be busy doing and the work that we would accomplish.  Still, He has given us the ability to walk in His will and purpose for Him, or not.

If you are like me, then you want for your home, relationships, and career to be blessed, but how did you answer the question above?  Who is building your house?

Inviting God Into Your Life

You can want all of the things that you want, but God is the builder who has the plan of how your life should be established in order for it to work in a magnificent way.  Have you invited Him into every area of you life, or are there specific areas that He isn’t allowed to enter into?

For some people the answer is yes, but for others, God is not welcome because control has not been given over to Him.  Which category do you fall in?

Is He welcome in your personal life?

Do you allow God to examine your thoughts and emotions?  Have you invited Him into the spaces of your mind that occupy you on a daily basis?  Do you share, with Him, your concerns and fears and allow Him to tell you how to overcome them?  Do you invite him into your choices? Before you take a drink, get a tattoo, purchase a car, or even watch a movie; do you allow Him to be in the process of your decisions?

Yes, He sees all that you do and think, but He is not going to over power you, so that you can be free.  He already sent Jesus to die on the cross for your mental and emotional freedom.  Have you accepted it?  Are you willing to turn away from the things that invite sickness, disease, and depression into your life?  Have you told your flesh “no” and the Lord “yes?”

Has the Lord been invited into your marriage?

Did God get an invitation to your wedding?  After the wedding, was He allowed to stay and dwell there?  Or is your marriage a place where God is not welcome to interfere?  One way to tell this is if you find that you only talk to God about what your husband does, but you don’t listen to the Lord tell you what you have done and how to fix it.  Your ability to trust God in your marriage is a direct indicator of whether or not you have invited Him into it.

If you want your marriage to work, it has to be built on a solid foundation and the Lord has to be the One that is giving out the orders.

What about motherhood?  Have you given God permission to help you be a mother?

Frustration can set in, when a mother doesn’t have patience or is trying in her own strength to mother her children.  The reason why is that a mother is not the creator of her children.  Although she birthed them, she did not design them, so there are aspects of her children that she must learn to navigate and direct.  However, while you are learning to help and assist your children in life, have you sought God about what is best for them?

Have you told God that you want to be the type of mother that He designed you to be or are you just being the type of mother that you want to be?  You have to make a decision and it’s an important one.  You have to decide to be an instrument and vessel of God in the lives of your children.  They were given to you as a blessing, but you have to be willing to be a good stewart over what God has given you.

Is it too much for you to ask God to give you patience and direction, so that you can be a mother that builds her children up and gives them wisdom?

Don’t forget about your career.

In the world, you and I are told that we can be whatever we want to be.  What we don’t normally hear is that we can and should be in the place and position that God has called us to.  We aren’t built up to be the type of women that God has designed us to be.

Because of this lack of encouragement, it’s not hard to take the wheel of the career field and steer it in the direction of our liking.  Have you surrendered your dream to God, so that He could tell you which ones He cosigned on?  Have you stopped long enough to hear Him direct you?  Do you have too much noise playing in the background, so that you cannot hear Him?  You have to be intentional about not avoiding what is important.

Let the Lord build your house

God’s will and purpose for you is important.  You and I should want Him to be involved in our lives, in every way possible.  This cannot happen without an invitation.

If you believe in Jesus, then you have already believed him for your salvation, but did you make him your Lord?  Are you giving him first place and rulership over every area of who you are and what you do?

You don’t want to be the person that is doing things without asking God to be with you.  You don’t want to find yourself in a place where you are struggling because you got into something that God did not call you to get into.  Now all things work together for our good, but you still have to go through, if you are disobedient.

Allow the Lord to establish the framework for the buildings in your life, so that as you build, your labor will not be in vain.

His Thinks of You

October 18, 2017 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” and You were on His mind.

When His Spirit hovered over the deep, He look to a place where you could place your feet,

A place for your to sleep,

But there was none, so He made it.

When He stared out into the abyss,

the void, the darkness,

He knew the harshness of how life would try to overwhelm you

So…He said “Let there be light” and there was light, so that the darkness would not overtake you

As the waters ran and flowed with no end in sight,

God made it right

Because He wanted you to have dry land.

He wanted to remind you that He thinks of you more than the grains of sand,

upon the earth

He wanted you to remember your worth

He gave the sun and the moon, the trees and the seas

And all have their boundaries

Because He wanted you to rule and reign and your desires to be fulfilled by the fruit that came

from the earth

So, why do you question your worth?

In the beginning God and the Holy Spirit and Jesus our Christ,

thought of you

Were concerned about your life

So they place everything in perfect order

It’s all for your daughter

And because He knew that evil would come,

He sent His Son

upon the earth

Begotten of Him, a virgin birth

Born to fulfill all of His promises to me and to you

Yes you!

He did this all for you because He loves you

He delights in you

He thinks great thoughts of you

So just love Him and be the person that He created you to be

I can only be I and you cannot be me

Nor can I be you

But that’s because God doesn’t want us as an imitation

He chooses His people, calls us a royal priest hood, a holy nation

But you have to begin to see it

You have to make sure that you believe it

My prayer is that He would help you understand

That your name is written on the palm of His hand

He dances over you with singing

Yes! Your life is filled with meaning

So don’t give up

I know times get hard

But remember that you’re never alone

You have your God

And He thinks of you

On Amazon’s Hot New Releases List: Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman

October 17, 2017 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Earlier today, I sat down to do some planning for Being Mrs. Mom.  I thought about all of the things that God is impressing on my heart to do for and with the women that are in my community and tribe.  After doing this, I had a conference call with two awesome leading entrepreneurs and told them the things that God was placing on my heart.  They confirmed the needs of the women and encouraged me to continue to push forward.  After the call, I got a notification on Facebook from a friend.  She was searching Amazon’s Hot New Releases list and saw my book.

If you scroll down, you find it.

Now this is amazing to find out, but it is also an amazing honor.  Let me tell you why.

If you look closely, you will notice that my book is nestled between a book by Valorie Burton and another book by Elizabeth George.  These are two great authors.  Valorie Burton is very encouraging and inspiring.  Elizabeth George was one of the first authors that I read when praying about guidance as a woman and wife.  I am so honored to see my book sitting next to these two ladies.

I can’t tell you how excited I am about all that God is doing.  He wants to bless you beyond measure, as well, but we have to be willing to answer the call that He has placed on us.  This is what I’ve done with my books and my life.  I’ve seen him bless me beyond measure in my relationships, ministry, career, and life.  I want Him to do the same for you.

Here’s to us hearing God’s call and answering it!

Prayers for Strength: An Excerpt from Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman

October 17, 2017 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman Book CoverAs you go throughout life, you will run into situations where you just won’t feel like you have enough strength to make it through.  You can try to muster up you own strength to push through, but the truth is that there is no better place to get you strength, than from God.  There are scriptures you can read, affirmations that you can say, but more importantly you should talk to God and pray for strength.  Still, sometimes you might wonder what you should pray.  Enjoy this excerpt, below of Prayers for Strength, from my book Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman.

In this excerpt there are prayers that you can pray that focus on  different areas your life, relationships, and focus.  I encourage you to make time daily to pray these prayers.  They are based on scripture and I’m sure that they will bless you.

Prayers for Strength

  1. Lord, You are the source of my strength. I will sing of Your praise daily.  When life get hard and I have to walk in faith, help me to remember that you are with me and have fully equipped me for every good work.
  2. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight Lord, for you are my Strength. Help me not to be anxious or to worry about anything.  Help me to cast my cares upon you daily and to seek first Your kingdom.  You told me that you would supply all of my needs, so I look to You as my Provider.  Help me to trust you when it is hard and I am tempted to fear.
  3. God, You are my strength and power, and You make my way blameless. When I am overwhelmed and feel like I can’t go on, remind me to put on the armor of God and to remove the cape, if I have attempted to put it on again.
  4. You have girded me with strength for the battle, Lord. You have subdued under me those that have risen up against me.  When the enemy comes in to my life and situations, like a flood, You said that You would lift up a standard against him.  Help me to trust you and stand in prayer, as I await your salvation.  Thank you for fighting my battles.
  5. Lord, I trust you for my family and my personal protection. I will not be afraid of the terror by night, or the arrows by day.  I will not fear what could be done to me.  I will not seek to defend myself.  Help me to stand on Your word and to be reminded that You have placed Your hedge of protection around me and my family.  Help me to remember that You will keep us safe from all hurt harm and danger.  Thank you for not appointing me to wrath, but instead redeeming me and my family to yourself.
  6. Father, help me to love what You love and to hate what You hate. Let my joy be found in You and in Your strength.  Be to me as you were to the Israel, a Strong Tower and Defense.  Remind me daily of your loving-kindness and tender mercies.
  7. You have commanded me to be strong and of good courage. Help me to not be afraid or dismayed.  Help me to remember that You are with me, wherever I go.
  8. Father, You have equipped me for every good work. Help me not to take on more than you have given me to do.  Help me to walk in the Spirit and not according to the flesh.  Help me to not be deceived by the enemy, but to gird my loins with truth.
  9. Bless me with your peace, as I make prayerfully make decisions. Help me to support my husband, encourage and guide my children, and disciple the women that you place in my path.  I desire to fulfill your great commission, but I need Your help.  Help me to accept what you give me and to rest in You, as I do your will.
  10. Father, I place all that I am and all that I have into your hands. Let me remain in right standing with you.  Let me always seek to build a relationship with you.  When it is all over, I want to hear You say that You knew me well.  I want to hear your say, “well done, My good and faithful servant.”  For this reason, I will not despise your chastisement, but instead I will embrace your leading with follow you obediently.  Give me the strength to walk out your calling on my life and empower me to be the woman that you have called me to be.

Pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I hope that you enjoyed this excerpt.  Don’t miss out on Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman.  I’m sure that you’ll be blessed and encouraged by it.
