Use Your Voice

November 3, 2015 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Over the past few weeks, I have struggled. I have been praying and seeking God about the direction that He wants me to go in.

I have been blessed with talents and abilities. I have been given opportunities and chances to do such wonderful things. Yet it is very important to me that I fulfill my purpose.

A few years ago, I sat down and wrote out my mission statement. However, knowing my mission does not mean that everything will go the way that I think it will go. Over the past few years I have heard God call me to a place where He desires to use me to help others. Now, as I wait in Him to work it all out, I am tested and tried by life.

I have fought battles in my mind. Thoughts that challenge my existence. They challenge my call. They challenge my abilities, talents, and relationships. I have had to listen to the Holy Spirit within me. He says that I am here for a reason; I am called and chosen; My talents, abilities, and relationships are all purposefully blessed.

In this, I find myself thankful. I might not have it all together. Yes, I am walking it out, but there is one thing that I have learned over the past few years.

I have a voice

God has given me a voice. He has blessed me with a strong one too. So, I choose to use my voice for good. I choose to use my voice to encourage you. I use my voice to bring Him glory.

Today, I want to encourage you to do the same thing. If you feel like you have it together, ask yourself if you are using your talents, abilities, and voice to bless others.

If you are like me and you are watching God put it all together, I challenge you to find your voice and use it to bless someone else. Use your struggles and challenges. Allow them to make you strong. Not just strong enough to recover from the battles that you have fought. Let them make you strong enough to strengthen, encourage, and motivate someone else.

I hope you find this helpful.

As you watch God, use your voice…

Decorating My Franklin Covey Planner

October 23, 2015 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I decorated my Franklin Covey classic planner pages.
Franklin Covey P1

I currently use the two page per day format in the planner. (There is a video below)

Although I really enjoy decorating these pages, it’s not something that I do each time.  However, when I do decorate the pages, I do it a bit differently each time. 12107754_10100359390765609_8546496328973596351_n

When I am decorating the planner, I use stamps and stickers to make it look pretty.  I also use sharpies to write on the washi tape that I use.  12088319_10100359390745649_9172976651778883892_n

Doing this makes me want to use my planner more.  It is also just plain fun to decorate my planner.  12032154_10100359390720699_3063822826529208234_n
Watch the video to see how I make these pages so beautiful.

My New Franklin Covey Planner: Planner Love

October 22, 2015 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

If you have been visiting my blog for sometime, you would know that I am a planner gal.  I love being organized and utilizing my planner.

Over the past few years, I have used a Franklin Covey planner, but I have often times thought about changing for one reason and one reason alone…it wasn’t always pretty.

I would look online at the other types of planners and while my Franklin Covey was very practical, it lacked style.

I will say that I was getting kinda antsy this year, but I purchased a binder that I found appealing and used it all year long…well, almost all year.

At the beginning of October, Franklin Covey announced their new line of planners.  It is called Planner Love.

I was so happy, that I ordered myself one.  I had to wait two weeks, but it finally arrived today.

Although I will be doing a full review of it later on, her are my unboxing and my initial thoughts on the planner itself.

Here is my other video with my thoughts on it…

I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what you thought…

You Are Worth It

October 19, 2015 By Mrs. Mom 2 Comments

Know your value

A few weeks ago, I was talking to a friend.  As we sat and talked, we began to discuss our roles as women today.  We looked at who we are as wives, mothers, friends, daughter, and so much more.  As if those roles had not demonstrated to us the importance of the call that had placed on our lives, we began to discuss our roles outside of our homes and relationships.

Somehow, the expectations of the world began to creep into our conversation.  We could both see how the standard of being a super, you can do it all, and be it all to everyone type of woman was infecting our self esteems like viruses injected into our veins.  We have each been spoon fed specific criteria that makes a woman successful.  There is this mold of what a woman today is supposed to look like.  There is this vision of what her home should be like.  Someone has said how her relationship should be with her husband and children.  I am not sure who has set this standard, but it seems that if we do not meet it, we, as women, end up thinking that we lack value.  We think that if we aren’t making a certain amount of money with a specific degree, driving a certain type of car, with one type of hair, and our families reflecting the magazine image, we lack value.  We feel that without these things, no one will want us, need us, or desire us.  Yet this is a lie!

Those standards are not God’s standards of women…

Today, I am here to tell you that you are very valuable and so am I.  You are worth it.

Know your value

If no one else ever tells you this, I want you to know that you are of great value.

God loves you.

NO!!! STOP! STOP RIGHT THERE!!!

Before you write off what I am saying as some cliché statement that everyone says, think about it…

Get this deep down in your heart, mind, spirit, and soul…

Jesus died for you.  Not just for the world, but for  you too…

I will wait for a moment as you think about this.

Jesus died for you!!!
Image from crosswalk.com

He did not do this in vain.  He did this with you in mind.  Sometimes we don’t realize the importance of this statement.

JESUS DIED FOR YOU!

That means you are worth His life.

You are worth more than any paycheck could ever represent.  You are worth more time than any person can give.  No one but God the Father, Jesus the Son, and our precious Holy Spirit could ever love you enough to equal your value.

The Almighty God, who hung the stars in the sky, took His time to create you.  When I say create, I mean that He pieced you together, cell by cell.

He took time planning your life and working out ever aspect of it.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!  ~Psalm 139:17, 18

Psalm 139-17, 18I know you have had thoughts before that no one loves you or cares for you.  I know there have been times when you feel forgotten.  I know that you have had times when you feel worthless.

Let me tell you…there is One who will never forget about you.  He thinks about you all of the time.  He spends time, just sitting and thinking about you.

Did you know that He dances over you with singing?

For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” ~Zephaniah 3:17

When you feel like quitting or giving up, He will fight for you.  You are worth it to Him.  He will never leave you alone.

I just want to tell you today, from that bottom of my heart that you are worth it…all of it.

You are worth the fight!

You are worth the time!

You are worth the energy!

You are worth the love, the effort, and the patience!

You, my sweet sister, are worth the wait!

You are worth Jesus!!!

My prayer for you today is that you would be reminded, right in that place,  how precious and valuable you are.

Because…You are worth it!!!

My Book of the Month

Finding Joy by Hope N. Grifin

Finding Joy by Hope N. Grifin

This month I am taking the time to read a book by a fellow blogger and author.  Her name is Hope N. Griffin and she blogs over at http://www.hopengriffin.com/

I am pretty excited about reading this book because I am a military wife myself and I have found that great life lessons have come from my marriage with my husband.  Tack on his occupation and the various aspects of it…BAM!!! Life change, heart change, God touches my souls with change, happens.  I am sure that these types of things happen with marriages that are not affiliated to the military, but there is something that happens here because we are connected to those who are connected to servicing the country.

Anyway…I have digress.

I am excited to read this book and want to learn so much more about this fellow blogger, wife, and author.  Here is a synopsis below.  If you are interested in reading it with me, you can join in and leaving you comments below. You can also discuss it with me in Hope’s Goodreads group.

I will also be writing a post next week to share my thoughts on the book.  If you are interested, stop by here next Friday for the review.

As a military spouse and mother (with one of her children being a young cancer survivor), Hope has faced some long, lonely nights questioning God’s faithfulness and the strength of her marriage. If you’ve ever found yourself in a long-distance marriage and wondered if it was possible not only to survive but also to thrive, then this book is for you. Hope invites you-through personal experience, examples of others in history, and Scripture-to explore the possibility of a stronger more fulfilling marriage. Together we are stronger. Together we can overcome any obstacle. You don’t have to do it alone. (Source: Amazon)

Doesn’t that sound encouraging.  I know it is to me.

If you are interested, Hope is also giving away a copy of her book.
