Dear New Mom Letter 1

February 27, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

dearnewmom

Dear New Mom,

Today, I thought of you.

I thought of your ambition.  I thought of your desire to be the best mother that you could possibly be.  I thought of the dreams that you have for your child.  As I thought of you, I thought of the journey that you are going to take as your child grows older.

Each day will give you something new.  There will be opportunities to be your best and your worst, but I encourage you to be your best.  Even when you find that you have not done that, don’t beat yourself up.  Stop…take a minute and ask God to forgive and help you.  Ask Him for wisdom, and then forgive yourself.  Allow yourself to make mistakes.  We all do it.  This life is full of chances to grow and being a mother is one of them.

Your child’s will help you develop patience.  Your patience will help your child develop character.

If you find that you need help, don’t be afraid to ask.  Everyone has moments when they cannot do it all on their own.  You are not weak, dumb, or less than because you need some assistance.

Remember that your child is a gift.  No matter how you feel, remind yourself that God gave that precious baby to you.  Although there are times when you may feel clueless, remember that all mothers have felt that way.  You are not the only one.  Everything that you need to raise your child has been place in you by God.  He will help you to do it if you ask.

Today, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.  Remember to take a breath.  You have to breath.  Rest…You have to rest.  Be…don’t try, just be.  Today, I pray that you would be strengthened…that you would laugh…and if you cry, that you would feel free, knowing that God caught each prayer encompassed in the tears.

Today, I want to encourage you.  You are enough. Hold on! Don’t let go! Don’t be afraid, you are not alone.  Find a way to have fun and when that voice in your head tells you that you can’t do it, tell it to shut up.  Give this your all and you will see your fruit turn into someone that brings you great joy.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mom

Letters to Moms Out There…

February 20, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

dearnewmomI’ve been a mom now for 12 years. Some women would say, “that’s it!” Yet there are others that would say, “Wow! That’s a long time!” That how I feel. At times, it is hard to believe that I’ve been a mother this long. It is such a blessing.

Every year, I try to think about how I can help a new mother or a mother that has been mothering for less time than I have. I have learned some lessons, both easy and hard. This year, I am deciding to write a series of letters to the new mother. By new, I mean a mom that has been mothering for 5 years or less. This mom could also be a mom that recently had a baby and feels like she is starting over again.

I say that, but I think that this can benefit any mom. I am still being encouraged by my past and current revelations.

Why am I doing this?

I am writing these letters because, I used to want to be a perfect mom. I didn’t want anyone to see my mistakes. (You know I made them, right?!) I didn’t want to ask for help. (You know I had to ask right?!) I was afraid. (I still am at times, but I trust God with this.)

Honestly, I feel like I’ve hidden long enough and I’m about to let the cat out of the bag…

I don’t know how else to put it.

I used to want to be the mom that was “super.” Then I realized that if I was super, there would be no need for a Savior, because I wouldn’t need help… and what a huge lie that is. Now, I won’t allow anyone to call me “super mom.” I’m a mom, just like you…

I live, I mess up, I learn, I get better…

Ureka! That’s my why!

I want another mom to know that its perfectly fine to make mistakes…you can’t learn if you don’t.

No that laundry isn’t ever going to be done…unless we stop wearing clothes. I don’t think anyone wants that. 🙂

Yes, you may have been punctual and consistent before and now you’re not. Give yourself some room to breath. God knows what life is like for you and He doesn’t hold any of your slip ups against you.

Through these letters, I want to tell, show, and encourage you simply be your best…

Give life your all…

Don’t hold back…

Don’t be afraid…

Trust God…

AND BREATH!!!

Focused

February 17, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Today, I have a lot of things to do.

I have been so blessed.

I have been working on creating websites.  Not just for myself, but for other people.  I never realized how much work I put into my site, until I began to do it for other people.  I guess it’s the joy of creating a thing that makes the time fly by.

I really enjoy the multiple steps in building a site.

Still, site building isn’t all that I have to do.

I am a mom and a wife.  I have school work and projects of my own that I’m working on.

This means that I will have to stay focused.  I am going to have to carve out sections of time throughout my day, where I am focused on specific things.  I know it won’t be perfect, but I have to take the time to do it.  If I don’t I’ll be all over the place.

Do you ever find that you have to focus your time?  How do you do it?  Are you consistent in it?  Does it work for you or are you constantly trying to get focused?

I Am Poem

February 10, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Poems

I am creative and caring.
I wonder if I’ll live to be 199.
I hear the sound of my little baby girl singing.
I see love dancing in her eyes.
I want a spinning wheel.
I am creative and caring.

I pretend that I am a singer on a stage
I feel apprehensive and concerned.
I touch God’s hands in the sky.
I worry about my mom sometimes.
I cry when I think those that reject God’s love.
I am creative and caring.

I understand that people have their own choices.
I say that love changes people.
I dream of owning a great business that encourages others.
I try to think of other people’s feelings before I speak.
I hope my husband is alright.
I am creative and caring.

(The idea for this poem came from a prompt that my son had for a homework assignment)
