Prayers for Strength: An Excerpt from Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman

October 17, 2017 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman Book CoverAs you go throughout life, you will run into situations where you just won’t feel like you have enough strength to make it through.  You can try to muster up you own strength to push through, but the truth is that there is no better place to get you strength, than from God.  There are scriptures you can read, affirmations that you can say, but more importantly you should talk to God and pray for strength.  Still, sometimes you might wonder what you should pray.  Enjoy this excerpt, below of Prayers for Strength, from my book Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman.

In this excerpt there are prayers that you can pray that focus on  different areas your life, relationships, and focus.  I encourage you to make time daily to pray these prayers.  They are based on scripture and I’m sure that they will bless you.

Prayers for Strength

  1. Lord, You are the source of my strength. I will sing of Your praise daily.  When life get hard and I have to walk in faith, help me to remember that you are with me and have fully equipped me for every good work.
  2. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight Lord, for you are my Strength. Help me not to be anxious or to worry about anything.  Help me to cast my cares upon you daily and to seek first Your kingdom.  You told me that you would supply all of my needs, so I look to You as my Provider.  Help me to trust you when it is hard and I am tempted to fear.
  3. God, You are my strength and power, and You make my way blameless. When I am overwhelmed and feel like I can’t go on, remind me to put on the armor of God and to remove the cape, if I have attempted to put it on again.
  4. You have girded me with strength for the battle, Lord. You have subdued under me those that have risen up against me.  When the enemy comes in to my life and situations, like a flood, You said that You would lift up a standard against him.  Help me to trust you and stand in prayer, as I await your salvation.  Thank you for fighting my battles.
  5. Lord, I trust you for my family and my personal protection. I will not be afraid of the terror by night, or the arrows by day.  I will not fear what could be done to me.  I will not seek to defend myself.  Help me to stand on Your word and to be reminded that You have placed Your hedge of protection around me and my family.  Help me to remember that You will keep us safe from all hurt harm and danger.  Thank you for not appointing me to wrath, but instead redeeming me and my family to yourself.
  6. Father, help me to love what You love and to hate what You hate. Let my joy be found in You and in Your strength.  Be to me as you were to the Israel, a Strong Tower and Defense.  Remind me daily of your loving-kindness and tender mercies.
  7. You have commanded me to be strong and of good courage. Help me to not be afraid or dismayed.  Help me to remember that You are with me, wherever I go.
  8. Father, You have equipped me for every good work. Help me not to take on more than you have given me to do.  Help me to walk in the Spirit and not according to the flesh.  Help me to not be deceived by the enemy, but to gird my loins with truth.
  9. Bless me with your peace, as I make prayerfully make decisions. Help me to support my husband, encourage and guide my children, and disciple the women that you place in my path.  I desire to fulfill your great commission, but I need Your help.  Help me to accept what you give me and to rest in You, as I do your will.
  10. Father, I place all that I am and all that I have into your hands. Let me remain in right standing with you.  Let me always seek to build a relationship with you.  When it is all over, I want to hear You say that You knew me well.  I want to hear your say, “well done, My good and faithful servant.”  For this reason, I will not despise your chastisement, but instead I will embrace your leading with follow you obediently.  Give me the strength to walk out your calling on my life and empower me to be the woman that you have called me to be.

Pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I hope that you enjoyed this excerpt.  Don’t miss out on Being Mrs. Mom the Not So Average Superwoman.  I’m sure that you’ll be blessed and encouraged by it.

My Book of the Month: Bridge to Haven

August 11, 2016 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

This month, I am taking another trip with one of my favorite fiction writers, Francine Rivers.  Last month, I read “Redeeming Love,” another one of her great books.

I have been looking forward to reading “Bridge to Haven” for quite some time, but I haven’t made it a priority to sit down and read it.  Since I had put myself on a book budget, I decided to check it out of the library and read it.  If you would like to join me in reading it, let me know.  If you have already and would like to share some non-spoiling details with me, leave a comment below. 🙂

My Book of the Month

Finding Joy by Hope N. Grifin

Finding Joy by Hope N. Grifin

This month I am taking the time to read a book by a fellow blogger and author.  Her name is Hope N. Griffin and she blogs over at http://www.hopengriffin.com/

I am pretty excited about reading this book because I am a military wife myself and I have found that great life lessons have come from my marriage with my husband.  Tack on his occupation and the various aspects of it…BAM!!! Life change, heart change, God touches my souls with change, happens.  I am sure that these types of things happen with marriages that are not affiliated to the military, but there is something that happens here because we are connected to those who are connected to servicing the country.

Anyway…I have digress.

I am excited to read this book and want to learn so much more about this fellow blogger, wife, and author.  Here is a synopsis below.  If you are interested in reading it with me, you can join in and leaving you comments below. You can also discuss it with me in Hope’s Goodreads group.

I will also be writing a post next week to share my thoughts on the book.  If you are interested, stop by here next Friday for the review.

As a military spouse and mother (with one of her children being a young cancer survivor), Hope has faced some long, lonely nights questioning God’s faithfulness and the strength of her marriage. If you’ve ever found yourself in a long-distance marriage and wondered if it was possible not only to survive but also to thrive, then this book is for you. Hope invites you-through personal experience, examples of others in history, and Scripture-to explore the possibility of a stronger more fulfilling marriage. Together we are stronger. Together we can overcome any obstacle. You don’t have to do it alone. (Source: Amazon)

Doesn’t that sound encouraging.  I know it is to me.

If you are interested, Hope is also giving away a copy of her book.

Read to and with your child…

September 30, 2015 By Mrs. Mom 3 Comments

Read to and with your child

This post is going to be the first in, what I hope to be, a series of posts presenting and discussing children’s books.  Today, I just want to introduce the concept…

In my home, we take a lot of time to read.  Every month, my children get a book allowance and visit the library.  We have a reading area in our home and spend time reading everyday.  Well, just about everyday. 🙂  My children read for a  set amount of time when they come home from school and I read for at least an hour a day. I try to encourage my children to read in various ways.

As we take time to read, I have found such great joy in reading to my children.  Not only do I enjoy reading with my children, but I often find that I learn something new, as well.  I have also recognized the benefits in reading with my children.

Here are a few benefits of reading with my children

  • I get to connect with my children through, what we normally find to be, a great story.
  • I get to hear how much they are improving in their fluency and vocabulary.
  • I give them an opportunity to share something with me that they enjoy about the story.
  • I am able to explain some of the hard topics that they find difficult to comprehend when we read together.
  • I am also able to spot situations, placed in books, that I find conflicting to what we believe and what we teach our children.  With this, I now have an opportunity to teach them the differences between what we have read and what we believe.  (This one is one of my favorites)

In this series, I will be sharing books that I have read with my children. I’ll be discussing the topic of the books and doing a mini review of the book. Sometimes, I will even share thoughts from my children on the books. My hope is to encourage you to read to and with your children.

Today, I would like to encourage you to take some time away from your busy schedule to read to your children.  I am not telling you when to do it, how to do it, or for how long.  In our house, we don’t normally do bed time stories.  Instead we do afternoon or quiet-time reading.  My children can also read at any other time of day that they want.  I am simply suggesting that you take some time, if you don’t already, to enjoy a nice story with your children.  Perhaps you can take a trip to your local library, book store, or used book store to find some hidden treasures.

Whatever you decide to do, get excited about reading and enjoy sometime connecting with your children through a great story.

Do you have any children’s books to recommend?  Let me know in the comment section.  I’d love to hear from you.
