2014 Goal (Reflection)

December 31, 2014 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Tonight, as I bring my 2014 year to a close, I am reflecting on my goals.

2014 Goal Reflection

At the beginning of this year, I sat down and wrote out some goals.  There were some that I accomplished that were personal and…well, some that I didn’t.  I also made a list of goals that I shared, on this post.  These were things that I wanted to do for the 2014 year.

I must admit, there were a lot of goals that I had that I didn’t accomplish.  Still, this has helped me to see what’s important to me.  I am going to continue with this because I believe it is important for me to see the goals that I have and to hold myself accountable for achieving my goals or not.

2014 was a year of growth for me.  There were things that I had stopped doing that I began to implement again toward the end, like using my planner regularly.  There were also things that I had to stop doing because they didn’t fit into my life.

I don’t know about you, but that’s how life is.  You have to learn what works for you and what doesn’t.  Overall, I am proud of myself for learning how to overcome certain situations in my life.  I am excited about my new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the end of 2015 will being.

I hope you are able to reflect on this past year and smile with excitement as you see the great opportunities that 2015 will bring.

Be safe and God bless…

Killing Giants

March 20, 2014 By Mrs. Mom 2 Comments

Over the past couple of days, I have been thinking and reevaluating some things in my life.

With a fine tooth comb, I have been looking at the things that I do and how I spend my time.  I want to be effective in all that I do and sometimes that means cutting back on other things that seem to eat away my time and energy.

The other day I was feeling a bit stuck.  In order to get unstuck, I started to think about the things I was doing and the things that  I wanted to get done.  I started to realize that I needed to overcome some of the challenges that I had been facing.  After listening to a podcast from Joyce Meyers, I felt encouraged.

man arm wrestle giant

I was motivated to attack, not only the challenges, but also the giants.

So now, I’m declaring it.

 I’m a giant killer.

I am going to be like David.  He took out that giant in a very unconventional way.  With a sling shot and a few smooth rocks.

I am going unconventional as well.  I’m looking for guidance from the Holy Spirit as I go along.  And I plan on killing all of the giants that come my way…one by one 🙂

What do you think?  Do you have any giants to kill?

Here’s what I’m going to do today and I invite you to do the same.

I’m going to stop and ask God which areas of my life I need to correct.  Are there any giants in my life that need killing?  How should I go about doing it?

I’m sure that you are like me and feel tempted to get it all done at one time, but that can be a bit overwhelming.  Like the say…

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

So…one step, one thing at a time, I am going to take back the areas of my that have been conquered by giants.

Are you up for the challenge as well?

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think and plan to do.

2014 Goals

January 1, 2014 By Mrs. Mom 1 Comment

I’m not the person to make New Year resolutions. I have seen people do it and never keep them. I’m not sure if it’s for a lack of commitment to self or if it’s just because they are doing it out of tradition. However, I am a very goal oriented person. At least, I like to think of myself this way. 🙂 If I make a goal and keep it before me, I will accomplish it.

What I decided to do for the year of 2014 is decide a few goals that I can commit to accomplishing for myself.

My list was pretty long. I typed it up and sent it to myself via email. Some of the things on my list were pretty private, but there are a few that I don’t mind sharing. I wanted them to be measurable goals. By doing this I eliminate general statements. I am very specific with them and I plan to hold myself to them.

My 2014 Goals
Simple things I want to do in 2014
Not in order by priority

1. Read the Bible in one year
2. Write a book
3. Clear my inbox
4. Read at least 12 books
5. Blog at least once a week
6. Knit 6 projects
7. Write an affirmation everyday
8. Make 3 quilts
9. Make 2 blankets
10. Learn to sew clothes
11. Work out a minimum of 3 times per week
12. Learn to bake bread, cake, and various types of cookies from scratch
13. Teach my daughter to read normal sight words
14. Play more board games with my kids at least once a week

Wow! That was 14. 🙂

I am very excited about this and I plan on keeping track of my progress. I may even blog at the end of every month about my status or progress.

Have you committed to completing any goals for yourself? If you don’t mind sharing, what are they?

Walk It Out Wednesday 6/6/12

June 6, 2012 By Mrs. Mom Leave a Comment

Today is the first of many…It is the middle of the week. It is the day when many of us are ready for the week to be over and we are looking forward to the weekend. Well, we are going to turn this day into something else. It is going to be Walk It Out Wednesday.  On this day I want you to think of five things that you would like to get accomplished by the end of the night.  You can choose 2 things that you will do by 11am, another that you will do by 1pm and the last 2 that you will do by 11:59pm.  ( If that is not convenient for you, set your own goals to achieve, but they must be accomplished by 11:59pm) Now I understand that this may seem like a stretch, but let me tell you…YOU CAN DO IT!!!  All it takes is for you to trust that God will help you as you put one foot in front of the other in order walk this day out, giving it all that you’ve got.  These things can fall in any category that you desire.

Here is my list for Walk It Out Wednesday…

Morning

1.  Clean My Kitchen

2.  Have quality time with my kids without distractions

Noon

3.  Read My Bible

Evening

4.  Complete at least one assignment for one class

5.  Fold Laundry and Put it Away

After they have been accomplished, I will come back and blog about them.  Today I declare “I CAN DO IT! I WILL WALK IT OUT!!!”

Feel free to post your 5 things in the comment section and to blog about the on your own blog if you have one.

Just gab the button to link your post back to this page.
